Air Duct and Dryer Vent Cleaning in Tampa, FL

Free quotes from a local duct and dryer vent company, plus straight answers about humidity, mold and the $99 offers in your mailbox.

Most Tampa air handlers sit in a garage or a closet and push 55-degree air through ducts that cross an attic that can reach about 130 degrees on a Julyafternoon. Add dew points in the 70s from late spring into October and you get the problems this city has more of than most: sweating vents, musty returns and dust that comes back a week after you wipe it.

What a duct cleaning costs in Tampa

A full cleaning of one system, done to the NADCA standard, generally runs $450 to $1,000, which is the range the EPA gives nationally. Dryer vents are quoted separately: roughly $150 to $300, more when the vent exits through a roof.

What you can get help with here

Whole-system air duct cleaning, dryer vent cleaning, rerouting a dryer vent that is too long or crushed, a second opinion on mold or a musty smell coming from the registers, and the long, awkward vents that come with Tampa condos and townhomes. Call or send the form and a local company comes back to you, usually within a few days.

Why Tampa ducts get dirty in their own way

In a colder city, ducts mostly collect dust. Here they also collect water. Supply air leaves the coil at around 55 degrees and travels through an attic that the Florida Solar Energy Center has measured at about 40 degrees above the outdoor temperature at the summer peak. Wherever that cold duct leaks, or its insulation has slipped, humid attic air meets a cold surface and condenses.

That moisture is what turns ordinary dust into the dark film people notice around ceiling registers, and it is why a smell can come from the system long after a cleaning. A cleaning removes what has built up. It does nothing about a leaking duct, a clogged condensate line or a register that sweats every afternoon, so a good company looks for the water as well as the dust.

Dryer vents: the shorter job that matters more

Duct cleaning is mostly about comfort and air. Dryer vent cleaning is about fire. Lint is the fuel in most dryer fires, and Tampa has a lot of housing where the vent is longer than it should be: upstairs laundry rooms in New Tampa and Westchase, townhomes in SoHo that vent through the roof, and condos where the vent crosses a ceiling before it reaches an outside wall. If a load of towels takes two cycles, the vent is the first thing to check.

Call if your dryer is taking longer than it used to. A blocked vent is a quick, inexpensive fix, and a quote costs nothing.

Common questions

Is there a charge for using this site?

No. You pay nothing for the introduction. If you go ahead, you pay the company that does the cleaning, directly, at the price you agree with them.

Why is the $99 whole-house offer so much cheaper than a real quote?

Because it is not the same job. NADCA, the duct cleaning trade body, describes $99 whole-house specials as a bait-and-switch: the price does not cover the labor or equipment a full cleaning needs, so the visit turns into an upsell. The guide on the $99 offer walks through what usually happens on the day.

Does every Tampa home need its ducts cleaned?

No. The EPA does not recommend routine duct cleaning and says ordinary dust is not a reason on its own. Visible mold on hard duct surfaces, vermin, or ducts visibly clogged with debris are. So is a renovation that put drywall dust through a running system. If none of that applies, a better filter and a coil check may be the cheaper fix.

How often should a dryer vent be cleaned?

Once a year is the usual advice, sooner if a load takes more than one cycle to dry, the laundry room gets hot, or the vent runs a long way to the roof, which is common in Tampa townhomes. The US Fire Administration lists failure to clean as the leading factor in residential dryer fires.

Do you cover my part of town?

All of Tampa, from Seminole Heights and South Tampa to New Tampa, plus Brandon, Riverview, Westchase and Wesley Chapel. If you are near the edge of that, call with the ZIP code.

I can smell something musty from the vents. Is that mold?

Sometimes. In Tampa it is often condensation in a return, a wet drain pan or damp insulation around a cold duct. Someone needs to look before anyone sells you a fogging treatment. If it is mold over a large area, Florida licenses mold remediation separately, and the mold page explains what that means for you.

Are you a duct cleaning company?

No. We are an advertising and referral service operated by Pinecrest Advisory Services, LLC. When you call or send a request we pass it to one independent local duct and dryer vent company that serves your area. We do not do the work, hold no contractor or mold license, and do not take a cut of your bill.
